Windows 7 Installation -The Contradiction Resolved

Hello everyone,

As you know from my last post, I was a little disappointed that the Windows 7 installation did not format the hard drive on my laptop prior to installing. At the time I decided to just leave it be, but like a dog with a bone, I could not do that.

So, this morning I tackled the project again and solved the format issue. When going through the installation process and choosing the partition you want to install Windows 7 to, there was a little link at the bottom of the screen called Disk Options. When clicking on that link, there are options for deleting, creating, and formatting partitions.

I simply deleted my C: partition, reallocated the space, and formatted it. This wiped the entire hard drive clean. I then proceeded to install Windows 7 on this newly formatted partition.

I now have a clean install of Windows 7 on my laptop and I am a very happy camper!

By the way, I still had an issue with the audio after this fresh install. I simply went to the HP website, the support and drivers section, and downloaded the XP driver for my particular laptop. Worked like a charm!
